Have your say on BIMCO’s FuelEU Maritime Clause for Time Charter Parties

Published: 04 July 2024

Our subcommittee is working on a comprehensive and balanced clause that addresses the commercial implications of the FuelEU Maritime Regulation, which comes into effect on 1 January 2025.

We are close to having a draft of the clause ready for wider industry consultation. If you are interested in having your say on the draft, please get in touch.

In essence, the FuelEU Maritime Clause sets out a framework for Owners and Charterers to work together (in a time charter context) to reduce GHG emissions in line with the FuelEU Maritime Regulation. It establishes clear definitions, responsibilities, and consequences to ensure maritime transport becomes more sustainable.

The subcommittee's objective is to formulate a comprehensive and balanced clause that addresses the commercial implications of the FuelEU Maritime Regulation, which comes into effect on 1 January 2025.

If you are interested in having your say, send an email to Carl Lindahl, BIMCO's Maritime Contracts Manager, at cwl@bimco.org.
